Nanoose Bay Custom Home Featured in Boulevard Magazine Central Vancouver Island

Our Fairwinds custom home in Nanoose Bay has been featured in the Summer 2018 edition of Boulevard Magazine – Central Vancouver Island! Below is an excerpt from the article. You can read the full article online here on pages 34-35 of the online magazine.

“Building on bedrock has never been easy; however, as evidenced by this stunning Fairways home, it does inspire some amazing construction.

Rock had to be blasted away to erect a 12-foot retaining wall at the front of the property. This made space for a sloped driveway and a patio area in front of the house. Large overhangs play in to the unique nature of the upper roof.

Chris Lundy, owner of Westmark Construction, and project manager Eldon Bueckert worked with the owners and architect to ensure the build went as planned.

“The grades here were in excess of 20 per cent, so the were particularly challenging,” said Chris.”

“The site definitely tested us,” added Eldon. “Some of the bedrock just wouldn’t break. In one instance, we left it as natural exposed rock up against the edge of the house. It makes a great landscape feature.”
