Nanaimo's Newest Affordable Housing Development
Westmark partnered with BC Housing and Ballenas Housing Society to bring a 53-unit rental apartment building that provides affordable homes for seniors, small families, and persons with disabilities to Nanaimo, BC.
Opening in November 2023, the community is designated for independent, low-to-moderate-income residents. Rental rates include deep subsidy, rent geared to income, and low end of market. Rates vary by unit type and are based on demonstrated need.
With 16 one-bedroom and 37 two-bedroom apartments, the building caters to a variety of needs, with homes ranging from a 705 sq ft space to an 870.8 sq ft area.
All units have full kitchens, washrooms featuring walk-in showers, and personal balconies. Shared laundry facilities are also available across all four floors. Water is included in the rent, and each unit is metered individually for hydro. Additionally, residents can enjoy complimentary phone, internet, and cable services for a limited period.
The development has a shared elevator for easy movement, along with three units that are fully wheelchair accessible with features like low countertops and wheel-in showers.
