Pacific Station, a master plan development led by Westmark Construction, is Nanaimo’s first synergistic mixed-use development. A blend of residential and commercial spaces, Pacific Station is a vibrant community that features 28 commercial office spaces, 16 two & three-bedroom townhomes, and 60 rental homes.
Initially zoned for single-family homes, Westmark didn’t want to build just another residential community. Instead, the vision was to create an inclusive, urban destination that would help raise the quality of life of Nanaimo residents and businesses for generations to come. A neighbourhood that would bring new life to North Nanaimo’s urban core by offering a wide range of amenities, day-to-day services and public transportation within a sustainable community.
To ensure there was the right balance of residential and commercial, each building was designed to complement each other with similar structural details. Wanting to stand out from the standard architectural style, every design detail from the building form and character to the landscaping and parking was carefully considered. The result was a West Coast modern design featuring a mix of timber and stone, vaulted ceilings, eye-catching inverted rooflines and secure underground parking.
The commercial buildings offer 50,000 square feet of contemporary space for businesses to customize. Highly visible from the Island Highway, Pacific Station exposes each business to more than 40,000 passing vehicles by each day. Pacific Station now features a thriving business community with a variety of professional firms, including optometrists, physiotherapists, designers, financial planners, and salons.
The mix of residential and commercial space helps people connect with their neighbours, develop relationships with local professionals and create a sense of place and community. The residents of the mixed community range from students and young families to retirees and seniors. Each one finding their way to Pacific Station for the comfort, convenience, and healthy living environment the community promotes.
