Carlos O’Bryan’s involved an extensive building envelope renovation and complete redesign of an iconic waterfront building.
The building envelope renovation involved extensive seismic and structural upgrates, new 2×8 heavily insulated exterior walls, and as a new energy efficient HVAC system.
An extensive focus on old and new wood in the interior renovation is reflected in the exterior use of featured structural beams. The building was extended and constructed out over the water on pilings, and the redesigned roof line included vestibules, dormers and covered walkways. The lighthouse feature and new colourful building envelope was modeled after the Entrance Island lighthouse in Nanaimo.
“We chose Westmark for our project because their reputation as a quality builder precedes them. In all respects, Westmark met the challenges professionally and moved the project to successful conclusion.”
