What is the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH)?
The CAMIMH is the leading voice for mental health advocacy in Canada. Established in 1998, this member-driven alliance brings together 16 diverse mental health groups, including healthcare providers and organizations that represent individuals with mental illness, their families, and caregivers. Together, they work to reduce stigma, promote national conversations on mental illness, and advocate for accessible mental health care and support for all Canadians. Their vision is to see a country where everyone enjoys good mental health, and their mission is to ensure that those with lived experience of mental illness have timely access to the support and respectful care they deserve. Each year, the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health honors 7 Canadians who have made significant contributions to advancing the mental health agenda nationwide.
Westmark’s Commitment to a Safe Workplace

At Westmark, our company values are reflected in our occupational health and safety program. Our safety program focuses on the well-being of our people, not the volume of our paperwork. We are committed to creating a safe working environment supported by policies and ongoing training that ensure every team member is prepared to recognize and manage the various hazards present in our industry.

Over the past 20 years, the understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) has evolved significantly. Previously, there was a strong emphasis on physical safety, while mental health was often overlooked. For the past seven years, however, Jason has been at the forefront of this effort, advocating for mental well-being as an integral part of workplace safety. Jason has worked diligently to clarify responsibilities and promote tolerance, becoming the first to implement mental wellness in the construction, mining, and manufacturing sectors across Canada. Thanks to advocates like Jason, we are redefining what it means to have a safe workplace, ensuring that mental health is acknowledged, supported, and recognized as a potentially compensable workplace related illness.

With 1 in 4 Canadians facing mental health challenges and many lacking the necessary support, it is essential to educate ourselves and our communities. With over 35 years of experience, Westmark understands that safety requires continuous improvement. We continually refine our safety practices through team feedback, ensuring both physical and mental health are top priorities. This commitment has positioned Westmark as a leading construction company in Canada’s construction industry. Our focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace reflects our dedication to the well-being of every team member, making Westmark an employer of choice where personal well-being is always a top priority.
